Rick is just finishing the last chapters of his latest novel, ‘Christian Vigilante’. It is the second in a series. The first was ‘Chasing Elmer Gantry’, where Arturo and Julianne Cruz set out on a mission to bring down every corrupt ministry they could find, with the help of Nathaniel, an Archangel sent from above. At the end of the story, Juliann discovers she is pregnant and they decide to name the child (if it’s a boy) after their special angel, Nathaniel.

Christian Vigilante was the author’s most difficult novel to write because of the controversial nature of the manuscript. He illustrates, through his protagonist, Nathaniel Cruz, Arturo’s and Julianne’s son,
that Christian living and making choices is never just black and white, but a thousand shades of gray.

Rick’s just finishing up his forth novel, ‘SleepWriter’. It will be available in ebook format soon. Here’s Rick’s own words about how he came up with the idea for the book:

I’ve always wanted to write a story about a man that sleepwalks to his computer and begins writing a story. When he wakes the next morning, he notices his computer is on and there is a file on his desktop screen he does not recall putting there. I thought I could build on that concept and come up with a real thriller.

Well, the idea sat in the back of my head for quite some time until one morning a dear friend of mine called me at 5:30 am, irritated that I had texted her at 2 am and 5 am. After telling her that was impossible, I was asleep the whole time, she produced the evidence to prove that I indeed had written to her… in my sleep. At first it shook me but then when it kept happening, I would always apologize and ask her what I wrote. The text was always like a mumbled dream… probably my subconscious. I wrote a one-word text once, it read simply ‘God’. Then another time wrote, ‘I’m chop meat’. I know, it sounds crazy, but it’s true. So, after having produced this phenomenon myself, I felt dually authorized to begin a new novel entitled, ‘SleepWriter’.

The book is dedicated to my brother Kenneth Vincent Koestler, who recently passed on from a long bout with lung cancer.

Many of the names that appear in the book are names of family members and their wives.

For instance my protagonist’s name is Ken Vincent and his love interest is Martha, but she likes to be called Marti. She is and was my brother’s charming wife.

I hope you enjoy the read as much as I did writing it. Here’s to you Ken!

After being led to a gold mine by a messenger of God, Nicholas and best friend Ben set off to build a mountaintop Mission. There they’d use their great fortune to help the disabled of the world, creating prosthesis, wheelchairs and many other useful gifts that would impact the needy in their worldly struggles. No reindeer and elves as helpers in this story, rather Nicholas employs the unlovely, the unwanted and misfits to man his workshops.
When Ben’s family is unjustly accused of a crime by corrupt soldiers intent on seizing their land, Nicholas gives them refuge in the newly constructed Mission. While in pursuit of the family, Captain Andre Ficci and his wicked brother, Manuel, discover the fortune, using any means necessary to locate and seize the gold. The story reads like a novel-length fable.

Synopsis: When Franciscan Monk, Peto Cardinelli visits his twin brother, Paulo, in prison for stealing church relics he’d sold to feed the poor, he unexpectedly dies. Paulo seizes the moment to escape jail and switches clothes, determined to carry on his brother’s commission to escort deviant Archbishop Morlan Fadesti to Rome for his ordination as Cardinal.

After Paulo discovers the Archbishop is a pedophile, he secretly employs his actor friends to pose as Vatican officials and join him in an effort to stop the corrupt priest on the road to Rome. When the players are all in place, Paulo conspires with them to deceive the Archbishop into paying for his own imprisonment.

Although stopping a pedophile priest is serious business, Paulo’s extraordinary sense of humor, charm and wit fully carries the story weightlessly with smiles to the end. As Paulo feigns stupidity, and continually baits the Archbishop into doing the right things for the wrong reasons, the reader will discover the true genius of ‘The Crooked Stick’.
